For Where Your Treasure is..........

Many years ago, I read a small book entitled "The Richest Man in Babylon" It was written by a successful map maker-turned storyteller named George Clason. While the book is a guide to financial success and stability even today, it discusses concepts for proper living and personal motivation. Clason delivered his lessons through parables set in ancient Babylon. The tale opens with friends Bansir and Kobbi reflecting on how much money they had earned during their lifetimes and how little they had to show for it. They decide to seek advice from their friend Arkad, the richest man in Babylon, whose wealth continued to grow even though he was generous to his family and charitable to others.

More than six decades after Clason's death, his simple message of generousity to family and charity to all continues to inspire people to become better managers of their "treasures".

“The secret to personal financial success is believing and practicing this axiom: Part of all you earn is yours to keep,” Clason said during a 1952 interview with The Denver Post. His principles are actual Biblical, as noted in my title! "For where your treasurre is, so shall your heart be also."

I have heard it said that if you will secure the counsel of those experienced in leading successful lives, they can help you learn your weaknesses. This will bring humility. From humility, we can learn to transform our weaknesses into strengths. Clason suggests that we should, "Let their wisdom protect thy treasure from unsafe investments,”
